Sunday School
Our Sunday
School is extremely child-friendly. We have about 20 children
enrolled this year. Each week, there is a
brief children's service at 10am in the Parish Hall, followed by
lessons and crafts. We have a “lectionary-based” curriculum, meaning
the children are learning (on their level) the same Christian
lessons as their parents and other adults are during the worship
service, which makes for great discussions after church and at home!
Each lesson lasts approximately 45 minutes; the children come into
church to join their families in time for communion.
We have five sessions
each school year. Each session lasts approximately six weeks, including
five 'teaching' Sundays and a Family Service Sunday, when the children
perform most of the duties during the 10am service (reading, ushering,
collecting offerings, carrying the elements). They also give special
performances through the year,, including an annual Christmas pageant
presented as part of our “12th Night” celebration.
Sunday School is open
for pre-kindergartners (age 3) through sixth graders (age 12). Many
Sunday School “graduates” stay on to help with the program. All Sunday
School teachers are volunteers from our congregation.
No Sunday School in
July and August.
